Kaylea Cross: Darkest Caress

Darkest Caress by Kaylea Cross is her first book in the Empowered Series.

Daegan Blackwell is the leader of a magical bloodline called the Empowered. He is the Coven Leader and has been protecting his brothers for nearly 200 years. He has been preparing for the upcoming war when suddenly he meets his destined mate. Can he be saved or will the darkness he has been fighting for so long consume him?

Olivia (Liv) Farrell is a normal every day real estate agent, or so she thinks. In reality she is actually Daegan’s mate and about to become an imperative pawn in the war. Becoming Daegan’s mate has more than one consequence now that the evil ones know about her. Does Liv have what it takes to conquer a warrior?

Excerpt:

“Olivia, look at me, love.”

The endearment, the slight Irish lilt in his voice soothed her enough to unlock her frozen muscles. She took an unsteady breath and turned her head toward him, reaching out blindly. Still on his knees, he gathered her up in his arms and lifted her out of the car, settling her onto his lap. She clung to him, fingers digging into his muscled shoulders.

“You’re okay. I’ve got you.” He held her close, his arms strong and warm around her.

Safe. She was safe now. Daegan wouldn’t let anything happen to her.

Kaylea Cross is a new to me author so I had no expectations for her writing. Mrs. Cross showed that her characters were well developed and in depth. She took my favorite Irish Folklore and integrated it into today’s society so that was also a big plus from me.
