Guest Post and Giveaway: Charlie Daye

Please welcome the fabulous Charlie Daye. Author of the new Paranormal Romance, The Gypsy’s Dance (The Hunter’s Series book 1).

Author Centric Topics:

When I’m Not Writing (do you have any fun interests, hobbies, or things you do when you’re not writing) I love to read. I was an English major in school and have always been drawn to a good book. I also love everything Disney, so, hubby and I have spent a lot of time at Disneyland.

Authors That Have Inspired Me I love Dean Koontz! I think he’s an amazing writer and have been reading his stuff since I was a kid.

My Favorite Books of all Time Intensity by Dean Koontz. I’ve read it like five times.

My Inspiration: The Things in Life That Inspire Me My inspiration comes from my surroundings. It could be an article of clothing I came across, some place I’ve been or a story I’ve heard. I also tend to use my friends for inspiration. If  I find something interesting about them whether it be one of their antics or their personality chances are you’ll find it in one of my books.

A Day in the Life of… My days are pretty boring. I get up, make breakfast (most mornings), clean house, do laundry, run errands if need be, play with TinkerBell (my American Bulldog) and if hubby’s home we spend some time together. He’s a chef so he works a lot. Other than that the remainder of time is spent writing and when I get tired of writing or my brain just refuses to think anymore I pick up a book and enjoy someone else’s work for a while.

* Creating a memorable character Most of my books are character driven. I decide on a character first then the story unfolds. Let’s take Oralia Simone from Gypsy’ Dance. My inspiration in creating her character came from a belly dancing hip scarf that I have hanging in my closet. I thought – wouldn’t it be fun to right a story about a gypsy – and Oralia was born.

* Your dream movie cast if it became a film Ooh, this is a hard one because I have such a distinct image in my head of what my characters should like. Whoever played Oralia would have to have a body like Shakira! As far as Niko goes, I picture him to be so exotic that they might actually have to look over seas for his character.

* Tips for novice writers Writing is hard but if it’s your dream continue pushing forward. There will also be someone that doesn’t like your work or wants to put you down but don’t let it get to you because for every person that doesn’t like what you do there will be ten more who do love it. Everyone can have a dream but it’s through hard work and determination that we make those dreams come true.
